ABOUT OUR SERVICES

​​

A Supported Living Personal Attendant provides quality and professional support services to people with developmental disabilities. 

 

Supported Living Personal Attendant’s provide personalized, individual support in the individual’s home and community, personal and medical business support and advocacy, assistance maintaining an optimal home environment, physical and mental well-being, and support and encouragement of independent life choices. Duties depend on an individual’s needs and the correlating Individual Personal Plan that is created and tailored to the individual.

Supported Living Personal Attendants sometimes serve individuals who need greater assistance, such as 24-hour care, whereas Independent Living Skills Instructors serve individuals who need less assistance, for example, visits three hours a day, three times a week.

Independent Living Skills Instructors provide Independent Living and Functional Skills Training to persons with developmental disabilities, enabling them to live fully integrated independent lives in minimally restrictive settings, which may be in their own home or with others.

 

Individualized training in daily living activities are essential to living independently, safely and successfully. 

​What is a Parenting Instructor?

​

Parenting Support Instructors teaches developmentally disabled parents how to provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment for their children.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide personal care, companionship, and assistance with daily living tasks.

Support meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and shopping.

Accompany individuals to medical and other community appointments.

Assist with medication monitoring and individual needs based on each person’s care plan.

Assist individuals with completing applications for services such as CalFresh food benefits, Social Security benefits, housing voucher rental assistance applications, and Medi-Cal/Medicare benefits.

Independent Living Instructors teach individuals independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, laundry, taking public transportation, and other activities of daily living that promote an independent lifestyle.

Parenting Support Service Instructors teach individuals who are parents, parenting skills in addition to independent living skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Employment Criteria at Independent Life Care Services, Inc.

Caring, reliable, responsible, trustworthy, and patient.

Ability to speak, read, and write basic English.

Experience caring for or helping others (paid or unpaid, including family members).

EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA

Employment Qualifications at Independent Life Care Services, Inc.

Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance (for drivers).

Ability to pass a drug screen, TB screening, and DOJ background check.

Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification (initial cost covered by ILCS).
